Alex mini E II review and build tips. By John Holloway.

This is a short review and some pictures that should help anyone building the new Alex min E II.

The build is fairly standard but took me longer than anticipated because this is the first concealed wing controls that I have done plus I have never seen any in the flesh. The tail connection was very easy and straight forward. I first of all tried a Hacker B20-15L + 4:1 geared motor but this seemed a bit on the tame side and also the C of G did not work out so I then put a Hacker B40 long plus gearbox into it, both photos of the mounts and support are included. The ESC is a 40 amp switched unit with the switch mounted internally under the canopy, the prop is 12 x 8 folding Aeronaut cam, and batteries are 3200 mAh 3s 25c LiPo.

The next part was to test fly and trim. The model is really easy out of the hand and no trim was required, lovely flying and can be flown fast if required. Using pre-sets for thermalling and speed it changes its characteristic and is so much fun, this seems to follow both of the previous Alex models which I am familiar with, so no doubt has helped.
I am very impressed with this model, so I will let you know of any changes that I make. I think I am flying the C of G slightly forward of the recommended position but I will measure and let you know any adjustments. The Hacker B40 with gearbox set up is really good, vertical climb outs no problem!
